I’m loving it...and other Oscar winning performances

If you’ve read this blog you are probably aware by now that occasionally, I do a little TV work. It’s all part of a cunning plan to work my way on to the big screen and be a huge movie star! ;-) it’s funny, people say – ‘ah you’re acting now!’ not really but it’s good fun and I don’t turn down any roles so if you do require my ample acting skills – well I’m available! ;-)

I’M LOVING IT
This is my latest for that little known fast food chain – McDonalds! Yeah, yeah, yeah – it’s controversial I know – but I don't care - it was actually kinda fun – and no i didn’t have to/get to eat the wrap! In fact the wrap had make up – I kid you not, it wouldn’t have been very tasty! The concept behind the ad was that the Wraps are so tasty that you’ll have to do everything with one hand so you can hold and (presumably) eat them. It felt all little like the X-men or Misfits - one armed - rubix cube girl, guitar guy, piano girl, drum guy, etc...

KOPPARBERG
I just saw this one the other day! Now I’m not gonna reveal any details but a VERY good time was had by all. Kopparberg know how to party – I can therefore fully endorse all their products – definitely not the hardest job I’ve ever had! ;-)

EVO MUSIC ROOMS
This has to be of my favourites! Got a little feature spot! My name got mentioned, got a line and that’s even me playing guitar on the ad (dubbed it on after!) – which was nice! Met Goldie – who was cool as fuck! Dizzee rolled up in the Porsche – as u do! The crew were cool, the food was good! Sheeeet – it was a great day!

BBC AFRICA
This was my first! I’ll never forget it – like they say – it stays with you forever. BBC Africa! Thrown in at the deep end I was called on to play a Nigerian football supporter, and I am...a Nigerian football supporter. A stretch indeed! ;-) As for the Nigerian performance in the 2010 World Cup – not so ‘FANTASTIC’

Hope you enjoyed these clikps, the were all fun to make and i look forward to doing more. Pass the BAFTAS! ;-)

New Pics and Pear Cider

Yo! I drank A LOT of a certain popular brand of Pear Cider (give you a clue – it’s not from the UK but you can buy it here) last night – all in the good cause of...advertising! Hence the picture above. If you’re in a cinema in Denmark you could very well see me getting down in the crowd. If you like a band called the Joy Formidable you might see me in their music video. Met some v cool peoplet this shoot actually - was definitely a laugh!

Check out the new photo gallery from the 229 gig the other day (Fri Mar 19) on the SABATTA Facebook page (facebook.com/sabatta) here. They were taken by our good friend Glenn Harper, you can see more of his pics at http://www.flickr.com/photos/raskolnikoff3000/

It was a cool night! Well it was hot night but it was worth it always always thanks to the crowd. I’m working on uploading some clips – we were REALLY loud so the audio is a little distorted but we’ve maybe got some audio off the mixing desk I might be able to use so I’ll see what I can do!

I’m playing a solo gig at Shunt this Friday mar 26. Could be a very busy night – I got at least one other gig to go to and a party – we’ll see where I end up!

Peace

NEW ALBUM IN PROGRESS
NEW SINGLE FAN LAUNCH @ KICK OUT THE JAMS 2010
TV ADS
INTERNATIONAL DATES

NEW ALBUM

So it’s been a while! That’s the thing – unless you have someone actually doing it for you it’s kinda hard to blog AND live – well it is for me!

So it’s been a hectic few months – been in the studio A LOT working on the new album – the title of which I can reveal is: SEX.POWER.DEATH.

It should be out by late June and it’s coming together great!

NEW SINGLE FAN LAUNCH @ KICK OUT THE JAMS 2010

This FRI 19 Mar SABATTA play again for the first time in 2010! At KICK OUT THE JAMS 2010 at 229 Club Great Portland Street, behind Oxford St. It’s 12 of the UK’s top emerging Rock bands (including SABATTA obviously) on 2 stages! Doors open 7pm For details and tickets click here:

http://www.feedmemusic.co.uk/Events_Details.aspx?Event_ID=840

This is also very special gig for us as we will be doing a special pre-launch of our new single MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE – we’ll be releasing a snippet of the single online on Fri Mar 19 so stay tuned!

TOTAL ROCK RADIO INTERVIEW

Today at 5pm I’m live on Total Rock Radio – www.totalrock.com to promote the KOTJ show and new single so make sure you tune in online to hear me talk mad shit! Nah seriously it should be good! I’m looking forward to it.

THE ROCK SHOW PODCAST

Speaking on interviews you can check out one I did last week for the mighty, mighty Rock Show Podcast – coming straight out of Wales. It should be noted that many the UK’s top rock bands of recent times are from Wales – Lost Prophets, Bullet for my Valentine, Funeral for a Friend, etc.

You can download the podcast directly here:

http://www.therockshow.co.uk/trs73.mp3

The interview is with Jim Hussell – the main man behind the show and an all round top bloke! I really enjoyed this interview and hope you do too!

TV ADS 'N' SHIT

This last week has been a mad one – I did a TV ad with a very famous DJ and artist which should be on Channel 4 soon! That was a trip. Have to say the due was very cool! Kinda dope to meet someone who has achieved so much whose actually very down to earth!

I’m actually wrote most of this at a casting for a Music video. VERRRRRRY strange! It’s all good though, you gotta earn a living by hook or by crook out here and this is just one of my hustles! f they don't cut me you might see me on the TV soon. LOL!

That’s all for now folks!

Yinka speaks with Living Colour's Vernon Reid on MLK day!

As promised in this post I am attaching the interview clips (it's a speaker phone interview so it's a little crackly) from my conversation with Vernon Reid from the seminal black rock which was first broadcast on 270110 and 0030 UK Time. For those not aware of the significance of this band here is some background...

Living Colour is an American funk metal band from New York City, formed in 1983. Stylistically, the band's music is a creative fusion influenced by heavy metal, funk, hard rock, free jazz, hardcore punk and hip hop.The band was formed in New York City in 1983 by guitarist Vernon Reid. They grew out of the Black Rock Coalition, a non-profit organization founded by (among others) Reid for black musicians interested in playing rock music.

Living Colour rose to fame with their debut album Vivid in 1988. Although the band scored a number of hits, they are best remembered for their anthemic single "Cult of Personality", which won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1989, and their highest charting single "Type". They were also named Best New Artist at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards. After disbanding in 1995, Living Colour reunited in 2000. The band released their fifth studio album, The Chair in the Doorway, on September 15, 2009 on Megaforce Records

....So I really help you all enjoy this . I actually had to privilege of speaking with Vernon maybe 2 and a half hours - and we started about 7am NY time so major respect goes out to Vernon for agreeing to get on the phone and speak so early.

We covered loads of topics and since my show is only an hour long there was no way I could fit it all in but I edited down 30 mins and cut it into 30 min chunks. I may play more of the conversation in the current weeks and including parts about 'the concept of legendary figures', the 'NAMM show' and more. But in these clips people and topics covered include - the history of Lviing Colour, The new album - Chair in the Doorway, Mick Jagger, Ike Turner and the origins of rock n roll, politics in popular music, Isaac Hayes, Otis Redding, Vernon's favourite 90s bands and much more!

Enjoy!!

Y
